Gwyneth Paltrow Chris Martin Divorce: Actress Talks Split, Admits She "Hit a wall"

"Iron Man" star Gwyneth Paltrow has finally opened up about her divorce with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

Speaking to Marie Clare for the magazine's February 2015 issue, the 42-year-old star discussed where she was in her life during the break up.

"There was nothing dramatic or anything. I had built my life on trying to be all things to all people, and I just couldn't do it anymore, and I really had the sense that I wasn't allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else, and I just sort of hit a wall," admitted the actress.

Before you start tearing up for Gwyneth, she does reveal that she and Martin, 37, are in a great place.

"We've worked really fucking hard to get to [this] point. But we're very, very close, and it's so nice. I feel like it's, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have," concluded Paltrow.

Earlier this year, the "Shakespeare in Love" actress and her husband of 10 years famously announced their decision to end their marriage in a blog post titled "Conscious Uncoupling" on Goop.com, Paltrow's lifestyle business.

She believes much of the time, when she talks or shares her thoughts, she's often misunderstood.

"Look, one of the disadvantages of having been famous for so long is I've said some stupid things," she explained, quotes Page Six. "But when words are put into my mouth, those are the situations I feel aren't quite fair."

Paltrow also acknowledges that the term she used to describe her split has been used in the media and quite frankly, as a joke because it puzzles people.

"You can make fun of the term or whatever," Paltrow said. "I didn't invent it," said the blonde beauty, taking it all in stride.

Gwyneth and Chris have made raising their kids their highest priority. In the Marie Claire interview, she said: "I think we are all genuinely doing our best, it's hard to have children and a career, and all some women seem to do is judge other women's choices. I find that demoralizing and unhelpful. Where is the wisdom coming out of this situation? I don't see where this is getting us anywhere in terms of a cultural discussion," said Gwyneth on raising children.

Paltrow and Martin have two children together, daughter Apple, 10, and son Moses, eight.

The issue featuring Gwyneth hits stands on Jan. 13.
