It seems that Microsoft is banking on the success of its laptop-tablet hybrid device, Surface Pro 3 and would release a new version, the Surface Pro 4, soon this year.
In a report by Christian Today, the new hybrid is rumored not only come in two sizes but would be outfitted with the new Windows 10 OS when it comes out. Coming from the Pro 3's current 12.2-inch screen, the new Pro 4 would come in 8-inch and 14-inch screen sizes. The variance in size would allow the company behind the hybrid to accommodate different demographics.
In spite of the size difference, both devices would still come with the same powerful features.
On the internal aspect of the device, it is also said that the laptop-tablet hybrid might come with an Intel Core M chip, which is often used in small laptops for its fanless design, noted Android Origin.
On the other hand, the said hybrid might also come with a Broadwell processor reported Modern Readers. The upcoming processor would equip the Surface Pro 4 with better performance while keeping power consumption low. Add that to a possible 8 GB of RAM and the upcoming device from Microsoft would be one impressive machine.
Updating the operating system from the current Windows 8 out in the market to Windows 10 is another thing fans of the Surface Pro are anticipating. While Windows 8 worked pretty well in the last Pro devices that came out, other users were not so impressed with it when used as a tablet. Windows 10, on the other hand, is rumored to be a better fit in both tablet and laptop options of the Pro 4.
Another exciting rumor about the Surface Pro is its ability to play games in both the laptop and tablet form unlike its competitors, which only offer integration between operating systems. This would come in handy as the Pro 4 is said to have a resolution of 2160x1440 pixels, noted The Fuse Joplin.
No exact schedule has been given as to when the Surface Pro 4 would come out. But a fall launch is probably what the company is targeting since it would be the same time Windows 10 would be released, noted Christian Today. This timeline is probable as introducing the updated hybrid device along with the new OS would allow it to gain traction in the market.
With all these amazing upgrades and the Surface Pro 4 looking to be a mean machine in a very compact and mobile body, the next question that comes to mind is the price tag. While others may think that such features require a hefty amount, Android Origin believes that it may not be necessary.
The Surface Pro 4 would reportedly be cheaper than the current-gen. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen when Microsoft finally makes an official announcement for the Surface Pro 4 in the coming days.
