Samsung may just be taking curved screen technology to another level. Rumors are going around that the Korean tech giant is coming out with the Galaxy S6 Edge, which will have single and dual curved screen variants.
The rumors on the said screen difference, among other new features, came about when a verified Reddit user named SamsungRep2015 dropped the bomb on the said social network, reported Christian Today.
The same source revealed that the company's code name for the new smartphone is "Project Zero." According to Latin Post, "Project Zero" meant the company began its design for the new phone from scratch, thus the numerous speculations going around.
Said SamsungRep2015, "Project Zero is indeed a real thig. I've also seen two different GS6 Edge variants, one with the normal Youm display on the Edge, and one with dual curved edges."
Users first saw the edge screen in the Galaxy Note Edge, which came out last year. The curved side of the mobile phone acts as an extended screen to house notifications and provide quick access features, which users find very helpful.
Aside from the rumored curved screen, the S6 would also be outfitted with powerful internal specifications, according to 9to5google. The flagship phone would allegedly come equipped with the new Android 5.0 Lollipop with Touchwiz, a 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, which could be increased up to 128 GB and a qHD Super AMOLED Display.
Other rumors, however, could not agree if it will come with a Snapdragon 810 processor or an Exynos 7420. Either way, the two would increase the smartphone's power.
For selfie lovers, the reported 3.1-megapixel front camera would be a welcome change from the current generation's 2MP. However, rumors could differ on the back camera of the S6, with some guessing that it would maintain the 16MP from the S5, while others are looking at 20MP, noted SamMobile.
Samsung has not made any statement regarding its official release date but word is out that the smartphone would be launched at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in March. However, a select few may have the chance to view the much-talked about Samsung S6 at the Consumer Electronics Show this week.
9to5google reported that the Korean company would be showcasing the phone to possible partners, such as network carriers and accessory makers ahead of the official launch. No word has been made on whether the same smartphone SamsungRep2015 saw is the one that will be on display then.
