A few days into the New Year and talks of trouble in Cleveland continued to brew. It seems that one player is on his way out the door and headed to Phoenix, and this player could very well be Kevin Love.
According to HP Basketball Network, with the team's recent standing in the NBA's Eastern Conference, it may not be surprising for the Cleveland Cavaliers to make a trade to boost them in the upcoming games.
While Love's performance during their game against the 76ers was commendable with 28 points and 19 rebounds, it wasn't enough for his team to maintain their 17-point lead, reported ESPN. In the end, the Cavaliers lost to the 76ers, which prior to their game had a 0-14 record at home for the season.
The loss is another blow to the team, which has placed Love's mediocre performance since he was traded from Minnesota into the spotlight. Before Love came to Cleveland, his performance in Minnesota was highly regarded.
His last season with the Timberwolves showed Love with three triple doubles, according to the Cleveland Cavaliers website. Not only that, he was also part of the All-Star team, his third time to be included.
So it's no wonder that when Kevin Love was traded for Andrew Wiggins, the teams and their fans had high hopes that Cleveland would soar. However, it seems that Love has not bonded with his teammates and is having a hard time adjusting with the new team as evident in his statistics, noted Bleacher Report.
Meanwhile, Wiggins is proving to be very effective in Minnesota. The change has shaken many fans and it would seem that Love might be traded soon if Cleveland wants to go up in their standing.
While no word has been made on whether Love would be traded or whether any team has expressed an intent to get him, it is possible that Love would go to Phoenix. According to HP, Phoenix was keen on getting Love as early as summer last year in case Eric Bledsoe won't renew. But when Bledsoe extended his contract, there was no way the Suns could trade Love.
Hoops Habit painted another scenario with Love on board the Suns. Being a top rebounder and an average shooter, Love would fit perfectly with Bledsoe, Dion Waiters, P.J. Tucker and Miles Plumlee. However, it would all depend on whether Love could return back to the player he was when he was still with Minnesota.
