Fans of "Assassin's Creed Unity" have something to look forward to as Ubisoft announced that the Dead Kings expansion is going to be released on January 13.
The announcement was made through the Assassin's Creed website. According to the press release, the Dead Kings DLC would be available for all platforms such as the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Not only that, the game is free for all of those who have purchased ACU.
According to Polygon, the video game developer decided to give Dead Kings pro bono to those who have bought ACU as a way to compensate the problematic launch of Assassin's Creed Unity. The video game was released to the market on November 2014, reported IB Times. Since then, the game has been beset with problems that has infuriated consumers who have been very excited for the next installment since "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag".
Ubisoft's original idea for Dead Kings is for it to be the foundation of the Unity DLC's season pass, which would be made available for all platforms, noted Games Radar. But because of the botched release, the company gave it for free instead.
Dead Kings is set on events after Unity. According to Game Spot, the premise of Dead Kings begins when, "Arno leaves Paris for Saint Denis, a mysterious city that holds the crypts of deceased French kings. Sent on a mission to the extensive underground of the Basilica, Arno will face a faction of new foes, the Raiders, populating its catacombs. Equipped with a lantern and a new powerful weapon, the Guillotine gun, Arno will have to navigate the dangerous passageways to uncover the darkest secrets of the city."
It's not yet clear how the story would commence but in a report by VG247, lots of clues have been given based on the game's cinematic trailer.
Among those mentioned is a probable comeback for Napoleon and the possibility of animals playing a bigger role in the new game. It also took note of the probability that a bit of science fiction might be touched in the game's plot. But all these remain to be seen when the game is released next week.
While the game could only be played on a "single-player" mode, numerous activities await the player with additional side missions included, Ubisoft teased. Murder mysteries and enigmas have been added to the usual assignment to make it more thrilling. As with the ACU, players could unlock new gears, outfits and weapons. The best part is those gears unlocked in Dead Kings can be brought back to the main Unity game.
