Superstar point guard Deron Williams does not seem to fare well in the Brooklyn Nets lately, suffering from ankle injuries that have stripped him of his "elite" title, reports Hoops Habit.
Despite his condition, Williams was still able to play in 31 games this season, pulling an average of 14.4 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.1 rebounds per game.
Although Williams could now be seen more inside the court, Jarrett Jack has been tasked to take over the starting point guard job, an indication that Williams may soon be leaving the team.
In an article by New York Post, Williams lasted only four minutes in the court during Brooklyn Net's latest game after coming from his injury. In the game against Philadelphia 76ers, he was pulled out of the court after only spending 4:07. He had already missed a game last Monday after coming down with a sore left feet.
Lest December 19, Williams strained his calf during a match against Cleveland. He missed the next two games. After that, he was able to play in six straight games before a soreness in his left side developed.
William's seemingly inflexible contract of $21 million does not seem to bother many teams as they have taken interest in taking in perhaps one of the biggest names in the hardcourt today.
In another news, the name of Slovenian Goran Dragić from the Phoenix Suns seems to be going around in trade discussions lately. Hoops Habit reports that things have not been going smoothly for Dragić with the Suns, and is going to be a free agent come offseason.
With the Suns signing point guard Isaiah Thomas last offseason, it has taken a toll on the minutes played by Dragić on court. Speculations started to arise that the Suns would keep him just until the end of the season, or trade him now to avoid losing his value in the offseason.
The 28-year-old Slovenian is able to post an average of 16.7 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game.
Dragić, with impressive digits, is one of the very popular targets on the trade block.
In post by Inquisitr, the Los Angeles Lakers have gotten in touch with the Phoenix Suns about a possible deal for Dragić. The Lakers reportedly has also kept its interest in pursuing Marc Gasol in free agency next year. It lost out on Rajon Rondo after it only offered to trade Steve Nash and a lower level draft pick.
