The wait is over. Famous athletic brand Nike is coming out with two new additions to their signature shoe line this January.
New designs would be arriving for two of the brand's signature series, reported The Latin Post. Nike is coming out with a "Longhorn State" edition for Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant and "Deceptive Red" edition for Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving.
According to the Nike website, the new design or colorway would be available to the "KD7," Durant's seventh collaboration with the sports brand. The new design for the signature sneakers was made to pay homage to Austin, Texas, where the pro basketball player spent his collegiate career at the University of Texas.
It would feature an animal-print all over the shoe's body using pony hair. The choice in using animal print was to mimic the longhorn steer's spotted hide. Two Nike Swoosh logos would be found at the toe and heel. These are to mark two of Durant's greatest achievements before turning professional, which were "leading all freshmen in scoring and becoming the first freshman to win the most prestigious player award that season."
The shoe also has a suede flocked midsole with black accents. The initials "KD" are situated on the tongue and the number "7" on the signature strap. Completing the look is a gum sole that enhances the Zoom Air Bag for comfort found at the heel.
The new design is listed as Black/Sail colorway under Nike, noted The Latin Post. Fans could get their hands on this new baby on January 9. However, they may have to shell out a little more extra as the "Longhorn State" edition would sell at $200 a pair, according to the website.
The shoe would be available in select Nike retailers and on eBay, reported Sneaker News.
Aside from the updated color for the KD 7, a new colorway for the Kyrie 1 is coming on January 10. Called "Deceptive Red," the whole upper part of the shoe would be in red with blue and black lagoon accents.
Listed officially as "Bright Crimson/Black-University Red-Blue Lagoon" colorway, the Kyrie 1 is not just an excellent shoe for its color but for it performance features as well, which were patterned after Irving's performance in the court.
According to Nike, "When designer Leo Chang and team began the design process of the Kyrie 1, the goal was to build a shoe to match Irving's tremendous speed and quickness. The Kyrie 1 needed to be light, bold and responsive with the best traction Nike Basketball could develop for Irving's prolific first step."
"Deceptive Red" will sell at $110 a pair.
