Los Angeles Lakers fans were treated to a different side of pro basketball players Jeremy Lin, Wayne Ellington and Nick Young as the three took part in the Lakers' All Access Event on Tuesday.
The event, which was on its 11th year, was hosted by Time Warner Cable SportsNet announcer Bill Macdonald, reported Inside The Lakers. Fans who attended were treated to a locker room tour, on-court shooting session and photo session, according to LA Downtown News.
But perhaps the real highlight of the night was during the panel discussion which were attended by Lin, Ellington and Wayne. The three provided a comedic commentary throughout the discussion much to the delight of those who attended, said Bleacher Report.
Fortunately for those who were not able to attend the event at the Staples Center, Arash Markazi from ESPN tweeted most of the night's punch lines.
The panel covered many topics about the players' lives, according to the Bleacher Report, from training habits, on-court appeal and even their personal lives, which the players happily obliged to share. When asked about Lin's relationship status, the point guard commented, "I'm single." And Young answered, "How are you single?" to which he replied, "Because I'm not dating anyone Nick." The former Rockets also joked about Young's personal life and said," I don't have a girlfriend who can buy me a car for Christmas. Nick has a different car for every day of the week."
At one time, Lin talked about Harvard, being a graduate from the said school when Young commented that USC is "the best school." Lin retorted, "Yeah, I heard they do your homework for you."
Lin, who is among the few Asian Americans playing in the NBA was asked about his hometown, he mentioned that he was born in Torrance, California. A surprised-looking Young asked, "Really?" Lin replied, "Yes, Nick. We've been through this. I wasn't born on another continent."
The players were also asked about their teammate Kobe Bryant and Young for his part had this to say about the legend, "Once you get to that level you're supposed to be like that. You're supposed to be a little off."
Young, whose nickname among his teammates is "Swaggy P" was asked where it came from. He replied, "It's biblical. It's in the Old Testament. The prophet of swag." Even coach Byron Scott joined in the fun and did an impersonation of Young as "Swaggy P."
The Lakers All Access event was held at the Staples Center and was attended by fans, sports enthusiasts and people from the media.
