LG did it again. The Korean tech company has once again introduced a new technology, which removes scratches and dents from their new phone's cover in just a matter of seconds.
LG is no stranger to technology that pushes boundaries. This is the same company that produced the first curved phone with the G Flex. Now, it has come up with a "self-healing" back cover for those annoying marks and dents, noted Phone Arena.
The G Flex 2 was unveiled at the 2015 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. The updated version of their first curved phone now comes in a smaller size but with bigger and better capabilities, according to Time. While the internal features made the G Flex 2 one of the most powerful smartphones in the market, what made it unique is its capability to "heal" and remove scratches on its cover.
The Korean company has set up demonstration booths at the CES event for viewers to see how it works, BBC reported. For this new technology, LG created polymer from poly-resin that expands when it is scratched or it comes in contact with any surface, Phone Arena explained. As it expands, it covers the area where the scratch or dent was made, leaving no mark and making it seem like new in as fast as 10 seconds. The breakthrough technology added further protection to the traditional UV coating, which came with the first model.
Aside from the external feature, the new G Flex 2 is powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 process which is accompanied with a 2 GB of RAM, reported Christian Post. The phone would be sold in 16 GB and 32 GB units. However, the storage could be expanded up to 2 TB.
While it comes in a smaller display from its predecessor, with only 5.5-in of screen, it compensates in the quality of viewing with a full HD OLED display and pixel count is at 403 pixels per inch, Christian Post added. Selfie addicts would still enjoy the same quality of photos taken with the G Flex as the G Flex 2 retains the same 13 MP rear and 2.1 MP front cameras. The curved display reportedly lays out flat when pressed down but returns to its original shape in a few seconds.
With all these features, one could expect the G Flex 2 to come with a hefty price tag. But no price details have been announced as of this moment. The unit would be available in South Korea in late January, Christian Post noted.
