We've heard in the recent days that Apple is believed to be developing a 12-inch MacBook Air as part of its new line of gadgets.
With the help of 3D modeler and artist Martin Hajek, renderings of how the new 12-inch MacBook Air could look were shared.
According to sources within Apple, 9to5mac reports that the radical new design from the Cupertino-based tech giant removed a number of standard slots leaving only a headphone jack and a single USB Type-C Port.
While no word on the device has been confirmed by the highly-secretive Apple, given the lack of ports, Gizmodo believes that the design will be easier to fabricate therefore cheaper.
The device, which measures 12-inches diagonally, is expected to be closer to the 11-inch model in measurements. It will be narrower due to the downsized bezels that surround the screen, notes MacRumors. Being smaller than the existing 13-inch MacBook Air, the new device is expected to me much-lighter with a thinner frame. This suggests that the new line will be geared towards the everyday, light user as opposed to a heavy power user.
Should the reports be accurate, TechCrunch does analyze that this could be a gamble for Apple. The site notes that Apple is betting its "consumers will value extreme portability and minimal design over a bevy of easily accessible ports and I/O. Things are generally handled via wireless in many instances these days, so the minimal port approach doesn't scare me all that much, especially given what USB-C is capable of."
The renderings provided by Hajek utilize the multiple color scheme used in the latest Apple smartphone -- the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Apple in 2015
Other products Apple is expected to launch this year include upgrades of its existing flagship designs.
After it made and continues to make waves with its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple is believed to be taking the oversized designs to its iPad line. Rumors are circulating that Apple will launch a larger iPad Pro coming in at either 12.2 or 12.9-inches.
Additionally, after Apple confirmed the Apple Watch last year, the wearable tech is expected to be released sometime in early 2015. There's also the Apple TV, MacBook Air Retina, newest iPhone -- the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 -- and its systems, the iOS 9 and OS X 10.11.
Stay tuned for more.
