Windows 10 Release Date, Preview & Download: New Web Browser 'Spartan' has Best Features Ever?

Microsoft's upcoming Windows 10 could be a game changer. The new operating system is rumored to boast of numerous new features and updates that would make it the tech company's best OS yet.

According to a report by The Verge, one significant change the Windows 10 would bring is the introduction of a new web browser. Called Spartan, it would replace the ancient Internet Explorer. What makes Spartan different from other browsers, the report added, is its capability to annotate a web page with the use of a stylus. The annotated web pages could then be shared to friends or colleagues for better collaboration between groups. The annotated web pages would be saved at the OneDrive cloud storage by Microsoft and is accessible in other browsers aside from Spartan and in multiple platforms.

While Spartan would replace Microsoft's primary web browser, it would continue support for Internet Explorer, reported Master Herald. Meanwhile, ZD Net has reported that the old browser would still be available in the upcoming OS.

Windows 10 features

The Verge provided more information about Windows 10. First, another exciting thing for the upcoming OS is the integration of Cortana, Microsoft's digital personal assistant. It added that Cortana would enable the users of Spartan to search details such as flights, hotels and restaurants to make it easier for them to find what they're looking for. Microsoft also plans to make Cortana search immediately accessible in the Spartan's tab interface. Essentially, Cortana would be to Spartan what Bing is to Internet Explorer.

Second, an organizing system would also be introduced in the new Windows 10. The system would reportedly allow users the leeway to clump together a certain group of tabs for easier access and identification. This way, The Verge explained, users could separate work browsing from personal browsing and it would be easier for them search what they were previously looking at.

Third, Microsoft is also looking at debuting Spartan in the Windows Store as an application that could be downloaded on tablets, smartphones and other devices that support it. It is also rumored that Microsoft is aiming for a universal design for Spartan in the PC, phone and tablets for a seamless look and feel for the users.

No release date has been set for Windows 10. However, according to Master Herald, company CEO Kevin Turner has stated that plans regarding the new operating system would be unveiled in early 2015. With the company holding an event on January 21, some speculated that Windows 10 would be revealed on the said day, basing it from Turner's statement, but Microsoft has not confirmed the rumors.
