The highly-anticipated Royal Rumble is always a time for recuperating players to once again showcase their talent and have another shot at their career. Word is out that one wrestler, which hasn't seen action in a long time, would return to the popular event.
According to Bleacher Report, Sheamus is rumored to return to the ring as a surprise fighter in the famous show. The Irish wrestler, who was supposed to play on John Cena's team in a Survivor Series match, was out for a few months due to an injury, noted Sporting News.
It was not clear what exact injury he suffered but WWE claimed the fighter sustained "a left cervical neurapraxia (stinger in arm), bone spurring, narrowing of the spinal canal (spinal stenosis) and narrowing of the nerve canals (neuroforaminal) along with nerve compression in his neck," reported Wrestling Inc.
Since then, many have speculated on when he would be fit enough to return or if he would make a comeback at all.
However, one aspect of Sheamus' comeback to WWE is the nature or situation of how he would return. In a report by Inquistr, wrestling commentator Jim Ross commented that the Celtic Warrior would probably have better luck in his wrestling career if the corporation turned him into a bad guy.
Sheamus is a known "babyface" or a good guy in WWE. Many are in favor of him to win titles but because of numerous "babyfaces" in WWE, some are of the opinion that he is better off as a heel than a nice guy.
Bleacher Report, in another article, painted a possible scenario for Sheamus turning into a heel via a match against Daniel Bryan. The superstar is one of the favorites to triumph in the upcoming Royal Rumble and it would be an exciting angle for the fans to have Sheamus thwart Bryan's goal.
The two wrestlers go way back to Wrestlemania 28. It was a shocking win for Sheamus who took Bryan's belt in just after 18 seconds, reported Cageside Seats. The Celtic Warrior gave Bryan a heavy Brogue Kick, which left him unable to defend himself and gave Sheamus the Heavyweight Champion title.
WWE could build on this plotline and have Bryan and Sheamus meet for a long-overdue rematch of Wrestlemania 28 in the upcoming big event. This could also pave the way for the company to rebuild the Irish wrestler's image and prepare him for a heel role.
