'GTA 5' Online Heists DLC Release Date & Download: Update 'Almost Here' For PS4, Xbox One?

Fans of the video game, "Grand Theft Auto V" are in great anticipation of the latest update that would bring the heists feature. But while the company has yet to announce the official release date of this new element, it has been hinted that it's coming out sooner than the PC version of the game.

Talks came about of heists coming very soon when the 1.17 update was rolled out for "GTA 5." Keen-eyed observers noticed some clues in the game's source code suggesting the heists DLC, reported Master Herald. However, game developer Rockstar made no official announcement regarding this feature and fans were left to wonder what those hints were for.

The source code allusion discovered was called a "Test DLC." And while it was not specifically indicated as the primary DLC for the heists feature, no disclosure was also made to imply that it wasn't.

Some have suggested that the traces left in the source code were the developers' way of initiating changes and additions to the backend in preparation for the official heists inclusion. On other hand, some are more inclined to believe that the clues found in the source code were a matter of negligence. It is possible that developers were in a rush to launch the update that they forgot to clean up the source code before its release.

Rockstar Games made no mention of an exact launch date for the heists in Xbox One and PlayStation 4 but it did announce that fans could expect it soon.

Meanwhile, those who are eagerly waiting for the PC version of the "GTA V" need not wait further as the developers have stated that the said version is coming out in March as reported by Express.

Rockstar Games released a statement on their official website that noted the PC version to have a "new release date of March 24, 2015." The date has been pushed due to test issues.

"Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be," it said in the announcement, further adding that the decision was made for the "best interests of the game and the fans."

Perhaps, the silver lining in the delay was the automatic inclusion of the heists in the PC version. The statement noted that, "GTA Online for PC, which will support up to 30 players, will launch alongside GTAV for PC and will include GTA Online Heists."

But if console users are disappointed that the PC version would have the feature automatically outfitted, the developers had one more happy thought to part with "GTA" fans as it promised that "Online Heists for consoles will be launching in the coming weeks ahead of the PC launch."
