"Grand Theft Auto 6" is still a long way off but it seems fans of the popular videogame could expect something different when it comes out. Rumor is going around that the sixth edition of the game would be set in Portland, Oregon.
In a report by Master Herald, the update came up as some members of the game's development team are said to be preparing for the sixth version, while updates on "GTA 5" are on-going. However, the Portland location was dropped as a suggestion and not from any leaks by the game's developer, Rockstar Games.
According to Game Spot, one real estate firm has suggested bringing "GTA 6" to Portland. Movoto recommended the city to be featured in the upcoming game and has even created a possible map where the developers could bring their game.
In the company's blog, Movoto outlined the numerous advantages of bringing the game to Portland. Among the reasons are the number of gun stores available and the several strip clubs that could provide extra activity for the game. The blog also mentioned that Portland has only six police stations, compared to the 12 in fictional Los Santos where "GTA 5" is set, which would be a great advantage for a video game that is about criminal activities.
However, the real estate company was quick to mention that apart from those mentioned above, other factors were considered before they came up with Portland. One element they mulled over is the existence of a style that is distinct only to the city.
"You need that local city smell. That special flavor that makes each 'GTA' a little bit better and a little more distinct than the last. For Portland, we felt it was oh-so appropriate to include bike shops and coffee shops (we almost included sweater shops, but that seemed a step too far)" the blog noted.
It further added, "You could go to a different coffee shop every day for almost two years. And all those coffee shops are just waiting for some local drug kingpin to come take them over and use them as a front for a blue-colored meth operation."
But while designing "GTA 6" to be in Portland is not a done deal yet, some believe that the suggestion is not so bad. The city would be the perfect place if Rockstar Games would upgrade their car action stunts.
Talks are also going around that the sixth edition of the game would take it outside the U.S. to a more exotic location, but that remains to be seen. So far, Liberty City and Vice City are among the other locations being rumored for the next "GTA" game, said Breathe Cast.
