Fans of the science fiction movie "Prometheus" are already eager to see what director Ridley Scott has up his sleeve for the sequel. While the plot and other details are being tightly kept under wraps, one thing is likely: there would be no dragons in the upcoming movie.
Late last year, rumors of the appearance of Xenomorphs were going around as little continues to be known of "Prometheus 2." Meanwhile, Noomi Rapace, who played Elizabeth Shaw in the first movie, opened another possible plot when she teased that "maybe God or [the] devil" would be introduced in the next film, reported Kdramastars.
However, Arrow In The Head reported that the famous director stomped down those rumors once and for all and said in an interview that he would be "getting away from gods and dragons and sh*t," adding, "If I see one more dragon I'm going to shoot myself. Stop the dragons."
But fans could definitely expect to meet a new kind of extraterrestrial in "Prometheus 2." In the end of the first movie, a creature that looked very much like the ones in the movie "Aliens" were seen, which confirmed the film's close relationship with the said movie, noted Screenrant. Nonetheless, Scott seems bent on steering away from that line and deviating into something else entirely.
According to Cinema Blend, Scott is looking at coming up with something original for the sequel film, as the director told The Australian: "The alien's real which is why it's probably one of the scariest monsters in film history. So with Prometheus 2 what I'm trying to do is reintroduce a fresher form of alien in the third act."
Meanwhile, reports of the cast from the first movie reprising their role has been going around with Michael Fassbender set to return again as the robot "David" and Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw, reported Latin Post.
Sigourney Weaver is a surprise addition to the cast and she is rumored to portray the role of Ellen Ripley, which fans first encountered in the 1979 "Aliens" movie. However, it is not yet clear how her character would be worked in the second film.
Rik Barnett, known for his acting in the movie "Rebels Without A Clue," has also reportedly met with Scott numerous times and is being considered for a role that is close to Shaw's character, said Screenrant in a separate report. But no confirmation has been made regarding his inclusion in the film.
With the script finally done after 15 drafts and Scott busy with other projects, it's possible that shooting for the second film would begin late 2015. That said, fans could expect "Prometheus 2" to hit the big screen in 2016.
