HTC, a Taiwanese high-tech computer company, joins Apple and Samsung in the clash of the titans with its own set of highly advanced smartphones. And to start off the year with a blast, it is set to release its latest flagship Android phone - the HTC One M9.
Comparatively, HTC can be deemed the underdog in the midst of competition but wait 'til you see as its latest model, the One M9, may just smack dab the iPhone 6 and the Samsung S6. HTC One M9 could feature a stunning 20 megapixel camera and a Dolby 5.1 audio technology, allowing for a clearer image capture and better sound register when connected to a home cinema, Techradar reports.
Front camera will also be allegedly upgraded with an HTC Ultrapixel Technology, which, according to Techradar, "uses fewer pixels that are larger in size in a bid to get clearer images in low light situations." This is key to HTCs promising competitive stint as even the iPhone and the Galaxy series smartphones fall short in this aspect.
With Dolby 5.1 audio technology, M9 might also use the latest version of HTC's Sense 7.
Specifications
There is a load of resources revealing some of the fascinating features of this upcoming Android phone. The HTC One M9 will use an eight-core, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, ensuring that everything runs perfectly and will less to no lags, Pocketnow reports.
The Snapdragon chip "offers an octa-core processor with 4 Cortex-A57 cores at 2.0 GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5 GHz, Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM", shares PC Advisor. So, it is very likely that M9 will come in 16GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB storage options.
It will also feature a 5-inch 1080p Super LCD 3 screen and will measure only 7mm, very thin for a smartphone that has a large screen. The battery life is longer than usual, with 2840mAh capacity. The HTC One M9 is also capable of 4K ultra-high-definition video recording, and will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop, PC Advisor reports.
Dimensions are yet to be confirmed but there are rumors saying that the HTC One M9 will measure 144.3 x 69.4 x 9.56 mm. It will also be available in different colors: dark gunmetal, silver, gold, and gray, according to rumors.
Release Date
Techradar and Android Central says that the HTC One M9 may be launched on March 1 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Spain.
Price
HTC has not made an announcement with regards to prices. Also, it is quite difficult to make inferences on estimated prices because factors like components costs and inflation may affect its introductory price. Nevertheless, we can simply postulate from looking at the introductory prices of its predecessors.
In the UK, the M7 had gone on sale for 500 pounds initially but it went down to 450 pounds after several weeks. The M8 went on sale for 550 pounds. So, the HTC One M9's price could be around 500 pounds to 600 pounds.
HTCOneM9Updates reports that the M9 may go on sale for $299 on-contract and $800 off-contract in the United States.
