With the erotic thriller, "Fifty Shades of Grey" set to hit theaters in time for Valentine's Day, the film's soundtrack is slowly getting traction as well, in preparation for the movie. "Earned It" by The Weeknd is among the songs chosen to be included in the movie's original soundtrack.
But it seems that the song's inclusion in the film's soundtrack is not the only common denominator it has with the movie. According to an article by MTV, Sam Taylor-Johnson was behind the music video for "Earned It." Taylor-Johnson also happens to be the director of "Fifty Shades of Grey."
The song's slow music and Abel Tesfaye's cool voice seems to be a good fit for the theme of the movie. According to Taylor-Johnson, "[The song is] a sort of gentle seduction that just pulls you and pulls you and pulls you in." She added, "For this movie, it couldn't be more perfect."
Filming for the music video has just wrapped up and The Weeknd teased fans of what to expect on his Instagram page. He uploaded a photo of himself seated beside Taylor-Johnson in an empty theater, reported Ace Showbiz.
Meanwhile, Buzzfeed released a Behind The Scenes video for the song "Earned It." The clip features Tesfaye singing on stage the Los Angeles' Palace Theater while a group of women in skimpy underwear with nothing but tape on their breasts are seen swaying seductively in the background. A few scenes from the movie were also interspersed in the BTS video.
Tesfaye is very proud of his contributions to the film. "I feel like the film and my music is a match made in heaven," stated the singer. He added, "If you listened to my album, even the past work I've done, it's very 'Fifty Shades of Grey.'"
His song, "Where We Belong" is also included in the soundtrack of the film. Other artists who have contributed tracks to the movie are Beyonce, Ellie Goulding The Rolling Stones and Annie Lennox, reported The YBF.
The soundtrack would come on February 10, a few days before the movie premieres on screen.
Despite the movie's release happening in less than a month's time, preselling of tickets have already hit an all-time high, reported Enstars. According to ticket service company, Fandango, the sales of "Fifty Shades of Grey" tickets have already exceeded the record of "Sex and the City 2."
