The hit singing competition, "The Voice" has just crowned its Season 7 winner weeks ago, but it would appear that NBC is gearing up for the show's Season 8 in just one month. As the next season premiere approaches, the celebrity judges are given yet another chance to feature some high profile talents as mentors.
It was only quite recently when the show wrapped up after America voted for country singer, Craig Wayne Boyd, from Team Blake, to win. It was Shelton's fourth win over the seven years that he was on the show.
Since news first broke out regarding the proximity of the eighth season premiere of "The Voice," a lot of speculations have been making its rounds on the Internet. However, it was only on Tuesday when MTV reported that this season's set of mentors will include Nick Jonas, Lionel Richie, Meghan Trainor, and Ellie Goulding.
These four new guest mentors will come into play after the regular fan-favorite Blind Auditions and will be making their cameo appearances through the Battle Rounds stage of the competition.
This will not be the first time for Richie to go on the show. He had the chance to work with Christina Aguilera's team in Season 2. This time around, however, he has been selected to work with the "Happy" song maker, Pharrell Williams.
The other artists, who will be mentoring the contestants of "The Voice" for the first time, will be paired with their own celebrity judge. Trainor will be working with country music icon, Blake Shelton, Nick Jonas with Christina Aguilera, who replaced Gwen Stefani from last season, and Ellie Goulding with the Maroon 5 front man, Adam Levine.
Additionally, the upcoming "The Voice" Season 8 also marks the return of Aguilera on her turning chair. She opted to leave the show for two seasons due to personal reasons. Shakira took over her spot in Season 6, and Stefani in Season 7.
She had to leave the show for a while as she welcomed her newborn baby girl, Summer Rain, last August. Apart from welcoming her child with her fiancé, Matthew Rutler, she was also reportedly working on her eighth studio album.
Now, though, the 34-year-old internationally famous belter is officially making a comeback to the show that she helped start. She was one of the show's originals judges, along with Shelton and Levine, and she has decided to take back her throne. Williams will be the only one who was not around during the show's very first season.
The eighth season of "The Voice" will premiere on Feb. 23 on NBC.
