Diplo is among the names that GQ included in their list of people who contributed something related to music in 2014, as reported by Billboard. Moreover, GQ also feels that he will be around in the industry for a relatively long time.
However, the list is not the main reason why Diplo is currently being talked about. Apart from allegedly being Katy Perry's on-and-off boyfriend, he is presently making headlines for claiming that he knows about Taylor Swift's secrets.
"Taylor Swift is very strategic with her friends and enemies," he revealed, as reported by Billboard. "And, I know lots of secrets. I can't divulge, but I know a lot of stuff about her, and I'm scared. I'm scared for my life." Clearly, Diplo was implying that the things he knows about the "Blank Space" singer were not of the run-of-the-mill type.
However, it is noteworthy that he has very close ties with Perry, who happens to be Swift's rival. The fact that the two pop stars are not exactly huge fans of one another is not a secret. He did sound like he was only joking about TSwift, but this would not be the first time that he threw shade on the Grammy winner.
"Someone should make a kick starter to get Taylor Swift a booty," Diplo wrote on Twitter last November. He took it one step further when he posted the link to a Fundly page, which, surprisingly, got to raise $45. Many of those who know about the feud between Perry and Swift think that Diplo is merely trying to get on the "Roar" singer's good side by lashing out at the blonde pop star.
The feud, which may or may not have been going on for much longer than people know, only became public when Swift spoke up about it in an interview with Rolling Stone last September, according to ETOnline. She revealed that she was actually singing about a pop star nemesis in her song "Bad Blood."
"She did something so horrible. I was, like, 'Oh. We're just straight up enemies,'" Swift said. "And, it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me."
Although she never mentioned Perry's name, a few people noted on social media that the "Dark Horse" singer had actually lured several of Swift's backup dancers and took them on for her Prismatic tour.
