The Cleveland Cavaliers remained hot as they cruised to their sixth-straight victory, scoring a 108-98 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
LeBron James led the way for the Cavaliers again as he posted 34 points to go along with seven rebounds and five assists, but the four-time Most Valuable Player declined to take the credit after the match, praising their team play against the much-experienced Thunder.
"We're a confident bunch. But for us, we're a humble bunch," James told ESPN. "But for us, we're a humble bunch. It's one game versus a very experienced team, a very talented team, a very good team that's been together for a while. It shows that we can match up with some of the high-caliber teams."
Kevin Love had another efficient night for the red-hot Cavaliers, tallying another double-double with 19 points on 6-for-10 shooting and 13 rebounds, while All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving added 21 points and six assists.
With the win, the Cavaliers improved to 25-20 and remained in fifth place in the Eastern Conference playoff race, while the Thunder dropped to 22-22, which is just good for 10th place in the competitive Western Conference.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat scored their second-straight victory with a convincing 96-84 victory over the Chicago Bulls at United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
The Heat-Bulls match featured several current and former All-Stars in the league, but Hassan Whiteside stole the spotlight from them on Sunday afternoon.
Whiteside, who was signed by the Heat to a free-agent deal earlier in the season, had his first-career triple-double as he racked up 14 points, 13 rebounds and 12 blocks for the Heat.
Dwyane Wade also had a productive night for the Heat with 26 points on 10-for-18 shooting, Chris Bosh finished with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Luol Deng had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
On the other hand, Derrick Rose led the Bulls with 19 points, Aaron Brooks added 17 points, while All-Star forward Pau Gasol ended up with 13 points to go along with 17 rebounds and four blocks in a losing effort for the Bulls, who have lost in four of their last six games after having a strong start this season.
"I don't know if there's a straight explanation for it," Gasol said of their recent struggles. "We understand the importance of every game, especially here at home. We're trying to get ourselves going, get in some kind of rhythm but we haven't been able to do it yet."
