Fans of Tom Cruise' Ethan Hunt would finally have something to cheer about. It seems that his fifth "Mission Impossible" film's release has been bumped to an early schedule and would hit theaters in summer 2015.
"Mission Impossible 5" was initially slated to come out on December 25. However, a report by MovieWeb said that the film's distributor, Paramount Pictures, has decided to show the film on July 31, five months earlier than expected.
Rumors have been circulating that the move was to give way to "Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens," which was due on December 18. MI5 producer J.J. Abrams just happens to direct the seventh "Star Wars" film.
But a report from Forbes has clarified that the movie was pushed earlier because the production of the film would finish on time by then.
Some insiders, on the other hand, have revealed that Paramount Pictures are keen on putting some distance between MI5 and Sony's upcoming James Bond film, "Spectre," which would come out in November, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Aside from Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner would return to reprise his role as William Brandt, another member of the Impossible Missions Force. Simon Pegg, who played Benji Dunn, is also confirmed for the fifth movie, said Screenrant.
Meanwhile, it is confirmed that Alec Baldwin would join the cast as the CIA head, noted Latin Post. Rebecca Ferguson from the historical series, "The White Queen," would also be part of the cast after Jessica Chastain, who was rumored to be the first one considered for the role, turned it down.
Paula Patton would also return for the fifth movie, said MovieWeb.
MI5 once again reunited Cruise with director Christopher McQuarrie. The duo's first move together was in 2012 with "Jack Reacher." Cruise and McQuarrie also partnered in other films such as "Edge of Tomorrow" and "Valkyrie," both of which, the director wrote.
Screenwriter Drew Pearce authored the script, his follow-up after the superhero hit, "Iron Man 3."
As schedule of the film is said to be on track and post-production is underway, fans of the Ethan Hunt franchise could soon expect a trailer to come out to further tease its viewers.
With the movie's earlier release, "Mission Impossible 5" would see itself go in the box office against the Antoine Fuqua boxing drama, "Southpaw," which would feature Jake Gyllenhaal, the science fiction thriller starring Ryan Reynolds, "Self/Less" and Warner Bros. remake of "Point Break."
