Could there be something going on between "Vampire Diaries" co-stars and former real-life couple Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev?
Ian Somerhalder, 36, is newly engaged to "Twilight" actress Nikki Reed, 26, but recent reports indicate his engagement isn't stopping him from being a little too friendly with ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev.
Hollywood Life's insider reports that Somerhalder and Dobrev, 26, were getting pretty cozy between takes on the set of "Vampire Diaries."
"Nina and Ian were VERY touchy in between takes," dropped a source currently on set with the actors.
Recalling what the insider saw, the insider described what happened. "Nina walked in and sat next to Ian on the pew. When she sat down, she immediately leaned her head on his shoulder and just sat there for a few minutes until it was time to roll."
They then add that based on how the stars were around each other, it didn't seem like the moment was an effort to get into character. Describing the pair as "awfully touchy," they looked like they just wanted to snuggle together while off-camera.
The site goes on to detail that Nina and Ian are spending a lot of time talking as Dobrev helps the actor with his directorial debut.
"Nikki has been helping Ian get ready for his directorial debut because she has done it before and he really appreciates her input and insight," said Hollywood Life's source.
It isn't clear what this could mean for Reed and Somerhalder's relationship but from what the insider is saying, there's an affection and connection between the the co-stars that hasn't faded.
Nina and Ian dated for a number of years until they split in 2013.
Inside Nikki and Ian's Engagement
Nikki and Ian were first spotted spending more and more time together last summer, July 2014.
ABC News notes that they were rumored to be dating after spending a quiet and intimate weekend together and being seen around town numerous times together. After six months of dating, Somerhalder proposed mid-January. Reed confirmed her engagement to the hunky actor during an interview with Us Weekly magazine at the Sundance event earlier this month.
"He's so beautiful inside and out!" gushed the actress about her new fiance. "He's quite possibly the most amazing man that's ever walked the planet, it's crazy. I'm so lucky, I love him."
Without revealing much about her walk down the aisle, she did discuss their shared love for their animals and pets.
"We love our animals so much," shared the actress. "Since the time I could walk, I was doing all these fosters, rehabs, and rescues. My mom and I have done this together, and it was natural to continue it."
