Days before her Super Bowl halftime performance, Katy Perry is making headlines for calling out a fellow pop star.
During an earlier interview with Rolling Stone, Taylor Swift, 25, commented that the song “Bad Blood” on her 1989 album, the angriest track, was about a fellow pop star.
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not," said the “Shake it Off” singer. "She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'" She then detailed that the other star went too far. "She did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.'"
“Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…” tweeted Katy, which many believe was a response to the interview.
Now, when asked about the issue by Billboard in a new interview, Perry didn’t deny that it was indeed Taylor and simply defended herself. "If somebody is trying to defame my character, you're going to hear about it," said the singer, basically confirming that it was indeed the "Blank Space" singer.
Super Bowl Halftime Show
Aside from the feud, Perry also took time to talk about how she’s feeling prior to her upcoming performance.
"Everyone has been asking me if I'm going to be nervous before the halftime show. I'm like, 'I'm...human. This is the biggest event of my career,'" confessed the “California Girls” singer.
She admitted that she felt pressure because this will be her “widest audience ever” and she wants to be able to showcase her best.
"I want the show to be quintessential Katy. It's like the exclamation point on the whole last cycle," she told the mag. "This is the cherry on top to everything I've already done."
One way to manage her nerves and prepare for the big show is to reach out to the veterans, specifically other artists who have taken the stage before her. Perry revealed to Billboard that she reached out to Bruno Mars, the halftime headliner in 2014.
"I'm going to meet up with him and he'll tell me whatever there is to tell," said Perry. "Although I don't know how much there really is,” said Perry because no one can really control every single detail.
"You can't control other people, and hopefully they're on the same path with you," she said hopefully. "My special guests" -- including Lenny Kravitz -- "don't have any agenda other than the music. But you can never be too sure."
E! Online reports that only Lenny has been a confirmed fellow performer, some suggest Missy Elliot could grace the stage as a surprise performer.
