‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ Release Date & Plot: Po to Meet His Love Interest? [Rumors]

"Kung Fu Panda 3," despite not having any production updates lately, has just been confirmed to be out by March 28 of 2016. Plus, it looks like it will also be available to a much larger international audience.

Although the cartoon franchise's fans have not heard much about its third installment, Cinema Blend reports that it has actually been in the works since 2012. Thankfully, the studio has just made a grand move to confirm to everyone that "Kung Fu Panda 3" is still on track for a big screen release.

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that DreamWorks Animation has just received a co-production status for "Kung Fu Panda 3" in China. This is very good news, especially after it was revealed that the studio lost a significant amount of money over the years, which, sadly, resulted to layoffs.

It was the studio's initiative to push back the release date for this animated film to avoid having to compete with "Star Wars 7." CeleBeat says that Fox President of Domestic Distribution, Chris Aronson, told Deadline last month that the "Kung Fu Panda" franchise is a very important property to DreamWorks.

Po, voiced by Jack Black, will be joined by the franchise's familiar characters, Viper, voiced by Lucy Liu; Mantis, voiced by Seth Rogen; Tigress, voiced by Angelina Jolie; Crane, voiced by David Cross; Monkey, voiced by Jackie Chan; Ping, voiced by James Hong; and Master Shifu, voiced by Dustin Hoffman.

Moreover, as reported by Cross Map, new characters will also be joining cast members, such as Rebel Wilson of "Pitch Perfect", Mads Mikkelsen of "Hannibal" and Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad." The report also says that Cranston was selected to play the role of Po's biological father, which could only mean that the rumors saying Po will be meeting his real father in "Kung Fu Panda 3" are true.

Plus, according to Cross Map, the fact that Wilson is naturally funny and witty could only mean that there is a huge possibility that her character will be Po's love interest.

TeaserTrailer.com stated, "The film will likely reunite the panda Po and his biological parents since we learned that they're still alive at the end of the second film." His father was forcibly separated from his wife and child when his village was attacked by Lord Shen and his mean wolves, as reported by The International Business Times.

Po's father was seen living in a hidden village with other surviving pandas, far away from the Valley of Peace, at the end of "Kung Fu Panda 2." When he found out that his son still lived, he proclaimed, "My son is alive!"
