‘Frozen 2’ Release Date & Trailer: Official Stills from ‘Frozen Fever’ Revealed [Photos]

Disney has yet to give a confirmation for "Frozen 2," but the Internet is already in a frenzy with rumors about the highly-anticipated sequel. For instance, rumor has it that Jennifer Lawrence was selected for the lead role.

"Jen's husky rendition of 'The Hanging Tree' in 'Mockingjay Part 1' surprised everyone," a source told OK! Mag, as reported by KDrama Stars. "Now, execs at Disney think she could be the new Kristen Bell. She's such a relevant star. She'd bring tons of fans to the next film."

"The Hanging Tree" has made it to the Billboard charts, which further cemented JLaw's capabilities as a singer. Plus, the fact that the Oscar-winning actress has a massive fan base and is referred to as "relevant", Disney reportedly thinks that, by taking her on, "Frozen 2" will be generating a much bigger audience, noted CeleBeat.

Unfortunately for Lawrence's fans, though, the report also said that the actress' following has already said otherwise. Plus, it also stated that they are pretty much "not okay" with the idea.

Thankfully, Idina Menzel had already confirmed that "Frozen 2" is in the works. Sadly, she is not able to assure her fans that she would be returning to lend her voice to Queen Elsa once again.

The rumor mill also said that Emily Blunt could be involved in the sequel. However, the British actress personally slammed the stories and said that she was already very happy for her friend, Bell.

"No! That series is for my friend, Kristen Bell, who just crushed it, and I am so happy for her," she said, according to a previous Realty Today report. "So, no. I don't know. There's just never going to be another Elsa and an Anna. There just can't."

Since "Frozen 2" does not have an official release date yet, an upcoming short film, titled, "Frozen Fever," will have to suffice for the ardent fans of the animated franchise. The seven-minute cartoon has already been slated for a March 13 release, which is shortly before the live-action movie, "Cinderella," as reported by BreatheCast.

"Frozen Fever" is centered around four characters namely: Elsa, voiced by Menzel; Anna, voiced by Bell; Olaf, voiced by Josh Gad; and Kristoff, voiced by Jonathan Groff, according to USA Today.

"Every day we're reminded of 'Frozen' in our lives," shared Gad. "So, it feels like a continuation of a saga that has many parts still untold. It felt like coming home again after a short absence."

Chris Buck, the co-director of the upcoming short animation, said, "It's another side of Elsa the audience hasn't seen before and we hadn't really played with in the original feature."

MTV has reported that five new stills for the short film have just been released for public viewing. The series of photos would be the fans' first peek into Arendelle, now that it is no longer covered in ice.
