'The Big Bang Theory' Season 8 News: Details on Nathan Fillion Guest Appearance

One of TV's funniest sitcoms is set to get a whole lot funnier. "Castle" star Nathan Fillion is set to appear as himself in an upcoming episode of "The Big Bang Theory," reports Entertainment Weekly.

The "Firefly" captain's cameo appearance on the CBS comedy will air on Feb. 19 and feature Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Raj (Kunal Nayyar) spending a lot of time wondering if it's actually Fillion they've spotted in a restaurant. The series stars have a lengthy debate if they should take a selfie with the geek icon, if it is indeed their TV idol.

The 43-year-old actor is a much-loved star in the world of geek TV.

Fillion played the lead role of Captain Malcolm Reyes in "Firefly," which "The Big Bang Theory" character Sheldon (Jim Parsons) has been a huge fan of. Often mentioning in the series that Sheldon is disappointed over the canceled-too-soon show, it'll be interesting to see how Sheldon will react to the news that his friends may have spotted "Captain Tight Pants?"

Fillion, a Canadian, has a number of geek-friendly projects which include "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," as well as "Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"

As soon as the news hit the net, fans have been ecstatic to see the "Castle" actor appear in the popular comedy.

Over Twitter, a fan tweeted excitedly that Fillion would be on the series which the actor quick retweeted acting all innocent. Pretending to be unaware of the news, "Is this for real?" tweeted the actor.

Last year, the hit show was renewed for anther three seasons bringing "The Big Bang Theory" through to its 10th season.

The CBS hit show "The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. The 14th episode of the show's eighth season, "The Troll Manifestation," will air on Thursday, Feb. 5.
