‘American Horror Story’ Season 5 Cast: Nevada is Bomb-Testing Site in ‘Operation Top Hat’?

Season 5 of "American Horror Story" has already been scheduled to return to FX sometime around October, according to BreatheCast. Although not much has been said about the show, the network's CEO, John Landgraf, insists that the show's fifth season will be "very different" from its last four seasons.

Inquisitr says that the upcoming season will be in the present day, which supports the rumors that season 5 will be delving deeper into "Operation Top Hat." It was designed for the testing of decontamination methods for those who have been afflicted with diseases caused by radiation and nerve gas exposure, as described by Ecumenical News.

In the finale episode of season 4, titled "Curtain Call," Massimo broke Elsa Mars' heart when he refused to run away with her. According to him, he only had a month to live because of his "bone and lung disease." This statement has spurred rumors that "American Horror Story" season 5's setting might be at a Nevada test site.

Landgraf has not given any hint about who the cast members are going to be, but some of the highly-watched show's previous stars have already expressed their willingness to return, as claimed by GameNGuide. The stars who still want be part of the show are Kathy Bates, Lily Rabe, Michael Chiklis, and Angela Basset.

Majority of them have only done one or two seasons, except for Rabe, who has been present in all of the previous four seasons. The report mentions that their willingness might have something to do with the fact, as claimed by GameNGuide, that their parts will be minimized. This way, they get to do other things without the show taking up a lot of their time.

KDrama Stars said that Sarah Paulson will also be featured in a smaller role for season 5 of "American Horror Story," since she has just taken on another show, "American Crime Story." According to the report, this new show is "sort of a sister show to 'AHS.'"

Plus, Emma Roberts was also selected to be part of yet another Ryan Murphy show, titled "Scream Queens."

Moreover, IB Times has reported, according to BreatheCast, that it remains uncertain whether or not Jessica Lange will be returning to the show. Murphy did, however, post a cryptic message on Twitter, somewhat indicating that she may no longer be part of the fifth season. "Thank you, Jessica," he wrote. "For everything. Always."

Those who are avid watchers of the FX horror anthology series speculate that all of the seasons are somewhat tied together. With this in mind, fans have been doing lots of guesswork regarding the plot for season 5 of "American Horror Story."
