Fans of the AMC hit TV series, "The Walking Dead," who have not yet recovered from the death of a favorite character in the first half of season 5, are in for another roller coaster ride. Rumors have it that the next two episodes of the zombie drama would be "highly emotional" and "very brutal."
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in the series, shared his sentiments about the past eight episodes of the popular series' current season.
"This back eight is my favorite back eight we've done since we started the show, for many reason, mainly because it's like a reset," said the actor. "We get to reimagine and sort of dial back some of the characters. And we meet so many new people. It's sort of a wild rabbit hole that we all go down, and I think the storytelling is phenomenal."
Lincoln added that the next two upcoming episodes are his favorites among those they've shot so far.
"They're brutal. They're incredibly emotional, and I think there will be a lot of surprises along the way," he warned.
And fans of the popular series are not new to surprises. During the eighth episode, Beth Greene was killed in a shocking midseason finale, said Cinema Blend.
According to The Daily Beast, her death left fans reeling in shock and disbelief, so much so that a petition to bring the character -- played by Emily Kinney -- back, has been put up in the Change.org website.
While the producers of the show have not commented on this petition, writer Scott Gimple explained his side to distraught fans. "I absolutely don't mean to cause them pain at all... I know that as characters continue to die, there will be groups of people who'll be very hurt that that was their favorite character. But it's going to happen. I feel awful about it, but it's part of the story we're telling."
Whether the surprises mentioned by Lincoln has something to do with Beth returning remains to be seen in the next episode.
Meanwhile, a midseason premiere trailer shows the group heading to a barricaded community. It's not clear whether it's the Alexandria Safe-Zone, where they are originally headed, or something else entirely.
However, according to IB Times, a synopsis posted for the upcoming ninth episode says the group is up to a "slight detour that may offer the solution the group has been seeking."
Fans would have to tune in back to their televisions on Feb. 8 to know if the gated community they came across is perhaps the "detour" they need.
