‘Teen Wolf’ Season 5 Release Date Delayed to August? Winter Filming Moved to February

The latest news on season 5 of "Teen Wolf" confirms that filming for the latest season will start in February. According to Movie Pilot, it was Tyler Posey himself who revealed that filming was moved to this month, instead of December of last year.

Arden Cho, who plays the role of Kira Yukimura, is also excited to finally get back to filming. "Reading EP501 of @MTVteenwolf!" she wrote on her Twitter account. "Excited to get back into filming!! Who's ready? #TeenWolfSeason5."

According to Cross Map, the first episode of the upcoming fifth season, titled "Creatures of the Night," will be featuring Derek Hale, played by Tyler Hoechlin, as he finds out about his special powers. Meanwhile, Scott McCall, played by Tyler Posey, slowly transforms into a True Alpha.

Fashion & Style says that an estimate on when the actual release date of "Teen Wolf" season 5 is going to be, actually depends a lot on when the exact date of filming is going to start. From that specified date, fans will be looking at, at least, a month-long delay. What remains unclear, sadly, is if the delay will be affecting the show's usual summer premiere date.

As of press time, no specific season 5 premiere date has been set, but the upcoming season is listed to start in June of this year. However, because of the delay, it is highly feasible that the show will not be airing until July, or maybe even August. If such reports are true, season 5 will be the TV series' first installment that will not be premiering during June.

Still, it needs to be noted that season 4 only started to film on February of 2014, and the crew and the stars still managed to meet their June deadline.

"Teen Wolf" is loosely inspired by the comedic fantasy film, starring Michael J. Fox, with the same title, that was released back in 1985. Since the 2011 show was released, fans did not hesitate at all in welcoming the show and its stars. With this said, writers of the fifth season will make sure that they will not end up disappointing their fans, noted Latino Post.

"It's another thing we haven't done before," Posey said, according to E! Online. He assured his fans that season 5 is going to be "so badass that [he] would watch the entire season just for this one part."
