HTC has yet to formally announce its next flagship phone, the "HTC One M9", but two new phone cases from Dot View and Otterbox have already come out, revealing one of the upcoming phone's upgrade -- its camera.
The newest phone from the Taiwanese manufacturer is set to be unveiled on the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this March, said GSM Arena. Most of the features and speculations released in the past weeks are still rumors and based from leaks, which have not been confirmed by HTC or any of their representatives.
However, it seems that some of the reports are more than just speculations. Otter has released a new protective case lineup online, notes another GSM Arena report. The cases were marketed for the unreleased "HTC One M9.""
The Otterbox case, which comes from the firm's Defender line, featured a huge squarish camera hole, which may be for the device's rumored 20.7MP camera.
Meanwhile, another phone case manufacturer, Dot View, has also released its own "HTC One M9" protective cases, said yet another article from GSM Arena. It also sports the same large hole for the camera at the rear.
However, this design has many questioning its validity. The cutout for the front camera was placed to the upper right. However, a previous report from the same site noted the M9's camera to be found at the upper central area.
On the other hand, Christian Times published a photo of the upcoming unit with its front camera on the upper right corner.
The said article also enumerated the features and specifications fans of the Taiwanese firm could look forward to with the M8's successor.
One of the few changes HTC has gone for the new unit is its name. Reports have circulated that the new device would forego the "M name" and instead be called, "Hima." It is not yet clear whether the new device would be called, "HTC One Hima" or just "HTC Hima."
The phone is reportedly outfitted with a Snapdragon 810 chip that goes along with the 5-inch 1080p Super LCD3 display. It would also come with a 20.7MP rear camera and a 13MP front camera for the "selfie" lovers.
"HTC One M9" is an octocore device that would make it one of the fastest smartphones in the market when it comes out.
The unit would be unveiled on March 1 at the MWC 2015 event and would be available in three colors - Dark Gunmetal, Dark Gunmetal/Gold and Silver/Gold.
