The NBA trade period for this year comes down to its final two weeks, and still, a lot of questions have been left unanswered. A huge batch of trades was completed in the past few weeks, but NBA insiders are confident that another wave of deals will surface before the 11th hour of the Feb. 19 trade deadline.
Rumor has it that Lance Stephenson and Mo Williams might be making their way to the Cleveland Cavaliers pretty soon. However, analysts think that it is highly unlikely that Stephenson will be acquired by the Cavs, particularly because of the beef that he had with their star player LeBron James last year.
Stephenson might have been on a mission to piss James off with his ear-blowing tactics, as well as tapping James's face during a dead ball situation, says Pro Basketball Talk. It was a good thing that James managed to keep his cool.
Plus, it would also seem that the former Pacer is a player that the Cavs do not really need, especially after they picked up JR Smith and Iman Shumpert, according to Sports World Report.
However, Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio feels confident that the Cavs will be making a play for point guard, Williams. According to Jobs & Hire, Williams has been red-hot this season and has been doing a fantastic job as a backup point guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, which was why the Cavs are interested in acquiring him.
Plus, Amico says that the boys from Cleveland are not the only ones who intend to get him on their team. "Timberwolves point guard, Mo Williams, is another serious candidate to be dealt sometime this month," Amico said. "The Cavs, Clippers, Pistons, Kings, and Heat are all said to be interested."
Stephenson, on the other hand, has just signed with the Charlotte Hornets this past offseason, and the team expected him to be the missing piece to their puzzle. The Hornets, being the eighth seed last year, wanted a shooting guard who can score and make plays for the rest of the team. Sadly, however, he has been a major disappointment for the team, so far this season, says Fan Sided. He was not consistent in his scoring prowess and he has yet to become an effective playmaker, as well. His averages may not be so bad, but the manner of how he gets those averages has been reportedly poor, to say the least.
As the trade deadline draws nearer, rumors surfaced that the Hornets might think it would be a much better choice if they traded him off. Howard Beck of Bleacher Report thinks that the Los Angeles Clippers is the team that is going to benefit for taking Stephenson on, especially as they need a versatile perimeter defender.
