eXp Realty, a fast-growing realty firm based in Washington, was named in a new lawsuit alleging sexual assault and misconduct by two of its prominent agents, according to a report.

In a lawsuit filed last week, Anya Roberts claimed she was drugged and sexually assaulted by two agents of the brokerage, specifically Michael Bjorkman and David Golden, as first reported by the New York Times.

In her lawsuit, Roberts said she met Golden at a real estate event in February 2020 and engaged in what seemed to be a romantic relationship. However, Golden later offered her drugs that he claimed to be Adderall. Roberts said the drug wiped out her memories.

Roberts also said she met with Golden another time, this time with Bjorkman present, and claimed they offered her a drink containing a performance-enhancing drug. According to her complaint, Roberts said she believes both agents sexually assaulted her while unconscious.

Roberts holds eXp Realty accountable, adding that the leadership of the company was aware of the alleged sexual assaults at the time but failed to take action.

Other Sexual Misconduct Lawsuits

Roberts is not the first person to file a lawsuit against eXp Realty's two marquee agents. In February, several women who filed a separate lawsuit claimed they were also drugged and sexually assaulted during eXp events by Bjorkman and Golden. Some said they woke up naked the next day with no recollection of how they got to a hotel bed. The lawsuit also alleged that executives ignored the complaints and only took action after the first lawsuit was filed.

In a statement, eXp Realty said it has "zero tolerance for abuse, harassment, or misconduct of any kind - including by the independent real estate agents who use our services."

"When any claim is made, we investigate the matter and decide on appropriate action as part of due process. When we learn of any behavior to the contrary, we take action to address it," the firm added.

However, the New York Times said the company continues to hold drinking and partying events in hotel rooms even after the lawsuit was filed. It also noted that, as early as May, another female broker came out and accused one eXp Realty vendor of sexual assault after the first lawsuit was filed.
