Before "The Blacklist" comes back for Season 3, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt revealed that there will be big changes happening in the show. In the Season 2 finale, Liz (Megan Boone) was put on the list of FBI's Most Wanted after she murdered Tom Connolly (Reed Birney) and was framed by the Cabal.

According to Fashion & Style, Greenblatt revealed in the recent 2015 NBC Television Critics Association summer press tour that the flow of the story is great because it is a "switch-up" from the previous format. In the previous season, a lot has been reportedly revealed about Liz's past. Liz and Reddington discovered that Liz's mother had been a former Russian spy and her father had died after Liz shot him with a gun. Liz's real name and identity is Masha Rostova and she killed her father when she had witnessed him hurting her mother. According to Movie News Guide, this revelation can affect the character in many ways.

According to show creator Jon Bokenkamp, Liz's past was something that was introduced in the previous seasons and she became an FBI profiler because of her criminal past, which will come in handy now that she is a fugitive on the run. Aside from that, it was also reported that fans will be seeing how Liz manages to operate and work with Reddington and his associates.

It was also revealed that Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold), Liz's fraudulent ex-husband, will be one of the people who will help her against FBI Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff). Ressler is the new leader of the Task Force who is determined to capture Liz.
