Fans who can't get over "Hannah Montana" are probably bothered by two questions; why did Miley change her image? And is she still friends with Emily Osment? Although it has been a wildly known fact that Miley doesn't care about what people think of her new image, it still remains a mystery if Emily is really a friend of hers outside the Disney universe.
Miley Cyrus shares in her 2009 autobiography that she and Emily have had their fair share of ups and downs. As everyone thinks that the two are best friends forever as suggested by their Disney roles, the truth is that they used to dislike each other.
Miley started the "Hannah Montan" a project feeling insecure of herself. Emily, on the other hand, had been in a number of TV shows and ads before being Lily on "Hanna Montana." The insecurities of Miley resulted to a tension between her and Emily. She says that they tried to be friends, but they can't help but end up fighting. Even if they try to be in peace, they would be back hating each other in no time. But when they try to get out of their "actor" persona, and just be plain kids, Miley says that she remembers being fond of Emily once in a while.
"Our characters got along so well. Why couldn't we act the same in real life?", Miley shares.
When the two started working on the "Hannah Montana" movie, they have had more times to be together. And one day, they were able to share a moment, by means of finding some baby birds in an old shack. After that moment, everything changed about their relationship. Their friendship did not happen overnight. But they both ended up friends, with Miley calling their relationship "freakishly close".

That was a few years back. Right now, there really isn't so much news about the two. Maybe they are just busy separately. It's a normal thing for friends to take some time apart, and that doesn't mean that the friendship is dissolved. Miley tagged Emily in a social media post a long while ago, saying "@EmilyOsment miss u . Hit me on DM". Last year, Emily also remembered to tag Miley on a Twitter post, no message was conveyed, just a heart emoji. Emily was also able to post a selfie with Miley during the premiere of Miley's ex-fiance.
So, based on what the two child stars show, we can say that they have shared a special bond together. If they no longer spend much time with each other recently, it's a normal thing. Although, it would be really special for Disney fans to see Miley and Emily together once again.
