'Reign' Season 3 Spoilers & Start Date: Tension Continues Between Mary & Elizabeth; Catherine To Add Trouble

As "Reign" returns for season 3, viewers will see two queens fighting for power. According to Crossmap, Season 3 will begin with Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane) fighting off Queen Elizabeth I of England (Rachel Skarsten) and Catherine de'Medici (Megan Follows).

According to the report, Mary will have to get ready as her own cousin Elizabeth reportedly plots something to bring her down while her mother-in-law Catherine will be up against her. In the exclusive trailer for season 3, King Francis II of France (Toby Regbo) can be seen pledging his loyalty to Mary. According to Christian Post, Francis will be helping Mary to give her a boost, but it is still a question as to whether she will be successful or not.

Meanwhile, over at Elizabeth's court, it was reported that there will be two powerful men appearing to help her. These two men are Tom Everett, who will be playing Elizabeth's trusted counselor, William, and Robert Dudley, who was her rumored past lover. Other characters will reportedly be added to Elizabeth's court, and one of them will become English Ambassador to France as well as Elizabeth's secret spy.

Another threat to Mary is her mother-in-law Catherine. However, Mary will not allow Catherine to stop her in her goals. It was reported that Mary's mother Mary de Guise (Amy Brenneman) will try to help her daughter as much as she can despite having a serious illness.

It was also reported that Nostradamus (Rossif Sutherland) will be coming back in Season 3. However, it was said that he seems to have not forgiven Catherine yet; therefore, he will only appear as a visitor at court.

Fans will reportedly be seeing a lot of sword fighting as "Reign" returns for Season 3 on The CW on October 9.
