Why 'The Legend Of Zelda' for Wii U' Release Is Delayed

Previously, "The Legend Of Zelda" for Wii U was reportedly still nominated for a Golden Joystick Award as 2015's Most Wanted Game even if Nintendo is delaying its release. The game with a "to be announce" release date state is competing with games like "Halo 5: Guardians," "Fallout 4" and "Dark Souls 3" for the said title.

To the disappointment of "The Legend Of Zelda" who have been promised that the development is on track and the game will be released this 2015, it was announced earlier this year that the release wasn't happening. Nintendo also reportedly confirmed that the game was not going to make an appearance at the 2015 E3.

According to HMK who uploaded a YouTube video about the situation of "Zelda Wii U," the absence of the game at the 2015 E3 hurt Nintendo's reputation badly and the announcement of the game "Star Fox Zero" did not do anything to redeem the company. After the event, Nintendo reportedly released a timeline or calendar which revealed that the release for "The Legend Of Zelda" for Wii U will happen in 2016. Then surprisingly sometime later the game falls under the "to be announced" category.

HMK also made reference to Zelda Game Designer Shigeru Miyamoto's statement, "A delayed game is eventually good but a rushed game is forever bad." But in the case of Zelda Wii U, there are no screenshots, no teasers, no explanation for the delay or basically nothing.

According to the said video, there are many factors why Nintendo is keeping fans in the dark with regards to the status of "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U. HMK speculates that the recent passing of Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata may have something to do with this but this is a bit farfetched since the game has been delayed even prior to his death.

Another thing that HMK is pointing out is that Nintendo is changing the game's graphics. And this is a more realistic argument. The word is that Wii U is nearing the product lifecycle and that Nintendo is currently working on a new console with the codename NX. Having said that it is possible that they are holding back the release of "The Legend of Zelda" so they could instead make it available together with the newer console.

It would be nice for Nintendo to at least give the fans a reason for the delay, no matter how disappointing it may be. Why do you think Nintendo is delaying the release of Zelda Wii U?
