"The Young and The Restless" may be planning a major shakeup for the city of Genoa. People Magazine confirmed that transgender actress Candis Cayne is the latest star to join the cast of the daytime soap opera.
"I am incredibly excited to join 'The Young and the Restless' family! Everyone, from the casting team to the producers and network executives, have been so welcoming and gracious," Cayne told People.
The 44-year-old transgender advocate and actress has previously starred on the primetime soap "Dirty Sexy Money" as William Baldwin's mistress. She was also recently seen supporting Caitlyn Jenner on "I am Cait."
Fans can expect Cayne on "The Young and the Restless" for its Dec. 2 episode as a recurring guest star. She will be playing as Nona Richards, a wedding planner in Genoa. This description has gotten much excitement from fans, who are anxious to hear wedding bells in the show. Which couple will be tying the knot?
The latest couple to be engaged in the show was Dr. Ben "Stitch" Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway). According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, People has initially reported of the Stitch-Abby nuptials but the show's producers were reportedly not pleased with the divulgence of this spoiler. The magazine quickly retracted the article.
Carrigan has been rumored to be exiting the show for months now, and a Stitch-Abby wedding could be the most dramatic exit for the actor. However, based on fan spoilers, upcoming episodes will feature a Halloween party in Genoa that will end tragically in a fire. The promo released by the show revealed Stitch caught in the flames.
Will he survive the accident and proceed with his wedding? Or is actor Carrigan finally leaving the show? "The Young and The Restless" remains tight-lipped about further spoilers. For now, fans can rest with the assurance that a wedding, even if it's not Stitch and Abby's, will take place. A wedding planner has just been hired.
"The Young and The Restless" airs daily at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
