"America's Next Top Model" will reportedly be cancelled after 22 seasons.
According to Fashion N Style, executive producer and host Tyra Banks revealed that it's her idea to stop searching for prospective models to be part of the show.
"Thinking #ANTM #cycle22 should be our last cycle. Yeah, I truly believe it's time. Our die-hard fans know we've expanded the definition of beauty, presented what Flawsome is, tooched and booched and boom, boom, boomed," she wrote alongside a photo of the number 22.
The lengthy Instagram post continued, "We've shown the world how to show their neck, rocked couture/catalogue/commercial poses, have found our (and your) light, strutted countless runways, gone on tons of go-sees, added guys to the girls mix, and have traveled around the globe and back again. Yeah, it's time. It really is. Wow, I am SO proud of what Top Model has done."
Meanwhile, thousands of "America's Next Top Model" fans are not happy to hear the cancellation of the reality TV show on The CW.
One fan wrote, "NO PLEASE DON'T!" Another fan wrote, "Don't do this Tyra!"
One fan also couldn't believe Tyra's post and wrote, "Omg they cancelled ANTM!!"
Tyra, who has been part of the show for the past 22 seasons, is currently joined by PR maven Kelly Cutrone, runway coach J. Alexander and photographer Yu Tsai.
"#ANTM brought the intimidating modeling world to the masses. We were the first reality show based in the fashion world. I never thought my little idea would have people everywhere thinking differently about how they take photos. And I never thought we'd do 22 cycles. Whoa! So many!!! And what rhymes with 22? You," she wrote.
"America's Next Top Model" cycle 22 currently has a few more contestants left. The series was recently bumped off to a Friday schedule, which may have something to do with its deteriorating ratings.
