The "Fatal Frame" game series has always been dedicated to horror and survival themes. It is known as Project Zero in Europe and as Zero in Japan. The series was developed by Tecmo for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Wii, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It's latest game in the series, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, was developed exclusively for Wii U. It was released in Japan in September 2014 as Zero: Nuregarasu no Miko. In the west, it will be released this October.
As an exlusive game for Wii U, Nintendo was kind enough to render two costumes from the popular characters from its other games. "Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water," according to Wii U Daily, will have two unlockable costumes, one from Zelda and the other from Zero suit Samus. The "Legend of Zelda for Wii U" may not be coming out in the near future, but fans can get a peek of beloved Zelda's costume through Fatal Frame.
In a recent trailer shared by Nintendo, a female was portrayed exploring two different eerie surroundings. In one area, she is dressed in Princess Zelda's iconic costume. In the next area, she is found wearing the blue Zero Suit worn by Samus Aran from the Metroid game series. There are no details yet as to how the costume will be acquired in the game or if there would be more costumes aside from those already seen in the trailer.
According to IGN, "Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water" is set to take place on Mt. Hikami, a mountain popular for the deaths that occur during its witching hour, when worlds of the living and dead cross. The player will have to use the gamepad as a camera to take pictures of the ghosts, while playing as one of the three characters of the game.
The "Maiden of Black Water" is exclusive to eShop for $50. A demo version which includes the prologue and two chapters can be downloaded for free. The game will be launched on Oct. 22.
