"Game of Thrones" long-absent cast member Clive Russell, who plays the role of Brynden Tully a.k.a. "The Blackfish," is expected to make a comeback in HBO's "Game of Thrones" Season 6.
According to reports, the 69-year-old actor was spotted during recent GoT filming shot in Corbet, Northern Ireland. Sources told Los Siete Reinos that Russell was indeed filming for his role as the Blackfish, who is also the uncle of the late Catelyn Stark.
The filming setup was also reportedly for the siege of Riverrun scene, which is included in George RR Martin's novel, A Feast for Crows. The novel is the fourth in Martin's famed A Song of Ice and Fire series, from which the TV series was inspired.
The storyline revealed that Jaime Lannister, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, will have a confrontation with Rusell's character during the said scene. Coincidentally, an earlier report from Watchers on the Wall revealed that Lannister and Bronn, played by Jeremy Flinn, would be traveling together to the Riverlands. Although Bronn was not initially featured in the book to be present during the siege, the GoT producers are determined to keep the pair intact.
Fans have been speculating for a while about Blackfish's return after an Instagram user posted a photo of the ongoing set construction in Corbet. Russell's presence confirmed that Blackfish will soon be back on screen, and will be expected to defend the garrison while shooting flaming arrows.
Followers of A Feast for Crows already predicted that Nikolaj and Russell's characters will soon have an encounter in Corbet, similar to the book's narration.
Blackfish was last seen in "Game of Thrones" Season 3 during "The Rains of Castamere" episode. His decision to leave Walder Frey's castle in "The Twins" resulted in the murder of his niece Catelyn Stark and her son Robb Stark. People were then left wondering about the whereabouts of Russell's character.
Meanwhile, actor Kit Harrington announced that his character Jon Snow will not be returning for "Game of Thrones" Season 6 after having been treacherously stabbed by the men he trusted in the last part of GoT Season 5. Harrington insisted on his claim despite earlier media reports saying that he was spotted at the GOT set in Belfast, which got fans' hopes up in the possibility of a plot twist.
"Game of Thrones" Season 6 is expected to air on HBO in January 2016.
