"Castle" Season 8 fans have shown no mercy towards co-showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley after they decided to split up Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).

After Kate told Rick that she wants to stay away from him temporarily, fans initially thought that Kate wanted a divorce. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the co-showrunners clarified that no divorce will take place on the show this season.

One episode later, Kate told Rick that she wants to get the rest of her things from his apartment. This has led fans to once again question whether or not the co-showrunners are telling them the truth.

Thousands of "Castle" fans have been expressing their opinions regarding Rick and Kate's split. They have also been urging the co-showrunners to do something to salvage the rest of the episodes.

On the Design & Trend website, one fan wrote about the co-showrunners, "They stated Beckett would be captain and no breakup another load of BS. If not back together by 8.08 and the writers try and suck us in for February I think they will lose all their demo. TOO BAD HAWLEY AND WINTER DON'T CARE WHAT THE FANS THINK."

Another person wrote, "The split of Castle and Beckett does not make any sense! There are many other ways of keeping audience! Just get them back together again!"

In other news, the show once again received a sort of backlash after Monday night's episode. "The Nose" featured Kate emotionally leaving her shirts behind for Rick. The latter touchingly held and smelled them.

However, fans once again questioned the co-showrunners' intention for making the series extremely emotional. This was reportedly a contradiction to what they previously said that episodes 3 onwards will be more fun to watch.

"Castle" airs Monday nights on ABC.
