"Outlander" Season 2 will see the continuation of events from Season 1, as Jamie and Claire head to France in an attempt to stop the Battle of Culloden from taking place. The upcoming season of the Starz time traveling series will be covering Diana Gabaldon's second book, "Dragonfly in Amber."

While Gabaldon has kept her distance from the screenwriting process, the "Outlander" author will be writing an episode in Season 2. Gabaldon will be writing the script for Episode 11, Scotland Now reported.

Scottish actor Sam Heughan expressed his excitement over the forthcoming episode and wrote: "Just reading @Writer_DG TV episode of @Outlander_Starz. It's V Good!!!!!"

The 35-year-old actor also praised Gabaldon and said that he was looking forward to seeing her in Scotland when they begin filming "Outlander" Season 2 Episode 11. Meanwhile, Carter Matt listed several new updates in the upcoming season of the Starz series.

Executive producer Maril Davis gave out some interesting details about "Outlander" Season 2 in a series of Twitter Q&As. First off, the producer dismissed casting rumors about Maeve Foley and said that she has not been cast as fan-favorite character, Brianna Randall.

Davis also revealed that the cast and crew are currently filming episodes nine and ten, which means that "Outlander" is only four episodes away from filming its finale. Production is also expected to end until the New Year.

Does this mean Brianna Randall has already been cast or will her character be introduced in the remaining episodes of the series?

"Outlander" Season 2 premieres in 2016 on Starz.
