The production for "New Girl" season 5 has officially commenced, and guest star Megan Fox is pumped to be on the hit FOX series.

According to People, Fox is officially the new girl on the show, for at least a handful of episodes.

This is because lead star Zooey Deschanel is still on maternity leave as of late.

The publication also released a photo of Fox arriving on the show's set in Los Angeles earlier this week.

In the pic, Fox could be seen wearing patterned leggings, flip-flops, a jacket and a simple shirt.

Fox will be playing the role of a Reagan, a medical sales representative who will be renting out Jess' loft temporarily.

Meanwhile, even though Deschanel is currently on maternity leave, the actress will still film an episode for "New Girl" season 5.

"I'm super excited. Essentially, my character Jess gets on jury duty and has to be sequestered, so the roommates rent out her room for a few weeks," she said.

When asked what she think of Fox joining "New Girl" temporarily, Deschanel said that she believes she's going to be fantastic on the show.

In the past, fans couldn't contain their disappointment over the executive producers' decision to tap Fox to join "New Girl."

Some fans think that it's not a good idea because Fox's character could be a threat to Jess.

Other fans believe that Deschanel is the only female character that deserves to be called "new girl" on the show.

One Twitter user @sepinwall speculated that Fox's character could serve a distraction to Max Greenfield's Schmidt.

"I'm sure the inclination will be for Megan Fox to cause Schmidt/Cece strife, but I want all of her scenes to be with Winston," the fan wrote.

Some "New Girl" fans also agreed with the fan's idea.

"New Girl" season 5 will premiere on FOX sometime next year.
