"Game of Thrones" Season 6 is turning out as a gathering of characters that have been absent in the series since the third season. Clive Russell was earlier revealed to be reprising his role as Brynden "The Blackfish" Tully in the upcoming sixth season. Now Riverrun's heir and Catelyn Stark's brother, Edmure Tully, is reportedly making a comeback as well.
According to Watchers of the Wall, "Outlander" actor Tobias Menzies will reprise his role as a member of House Tully in HBO's hit fantasy series. The actor has been seen on the set of Riverrun, which is the ancestral seat of House Tully. The last time his character appeared on the show was during the ill-fated Red Wedding when Edmure and Roslin Frey (Alexandra Dowling) were married.
Avid "Game of Thrones" viewers would remember how Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley), Robb Stark (Richard Madden) and Talisa (Oona Chaplin) were deceived and viciously killed by the Freys, as commanded by Tywin Lannister. Menzies's character has not returned in the series after the Red Wedding episode, but in George RR Martin's novels he was taken hostage by Frey to persuade Brynden to surrender.
Due to the returns of Edmure and Brynden Tully, fans of the hit HBO series have speculated that the sixth season's story will involve certain storylines from Martin's "A Feast of Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons."
Even though it has been reported that Lady Stoneheart will not appear in the next season, GoT fans are still hoping that she will be present. In the novels, the mystifying Lady Stoneheart hardly talks because she sustained many wounds when she was killed.
Other characters that are returning in GoT Season 6 include Tyrion Lannister's (Peter Dinklage) former ladylove Shae (Sibel Kekilli), according to Metro. Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) is also likely to return since the hunk actor has been seen shooting scenes of Games of Thrones. Fans of the show believe that the two characters will appear only in flashback scenes.
"Game of Thrones" Season 6 is slated to be aired in 2016.
