On Monday, avid fans and gamers of the popular "Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns" will be exploring new features and contents. This is after game developer ArenaNet launched the game's expansion that brings a new profession, elite specializations, weapons, skills, maps, dungeons and raid, a report from iDigital Times said.

"Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns introduces an exciting range of all-new endgame content. That includes Masteries, a novel new approach for how characters in an MMO continue their progression beyond max level as they pursue new skills, abilities and rewards. At the heart of Heart of Thorns is an all-new story-driven experience that puts players in an epic battle with Mordremoth, a colossal elder dragon terrorizing the game world of Tyria," ArenaNet said in a statement, as quoted in the report.

"Together with new zones, features and content touching on every aspect of the game from PvE to PvP to guild play and even Guild Wars 2 's unique World vs. World mode, and with Raids on the horizon, Heart of Thorns is one to watch for every MMO and RPG savant," the company said.

According to WCCF Tech, "Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns" expansion features Masteries, which is a new form of character progression in the game.

"Those are just the tip of the iceberg though, since a new profession (the Revenant) is being introduced and each profession will get an elite specialization. Moreover, PvP is getting a new MOBA inspired game mode (Stronghold) along with PvP Leagues, while WvW gets an entirely new map (Desert Borderlands) to play with," the report noted.

ArenaNet claims that the game has made significant growth with over 7 million accounts and 1.4 billion gameplay hours recorded since it was released for free two months ago.

"This has been a memorable year for ArenaNet and our Guild Wars 2 player community. We energised our fans in January with the announcement of Heart of Thorns as the first expansion to Guild Wars 2, and we've seen steady growth in our player base ever since.  Our community is widely recognised as one of the best and friendliest in MMOs - many of our veteran players organised in starter zones to welcome new players the weekend we made the core Guild Wars 2 game free. We're eager to see how our fast growing community continues to flourish, and we hope they're eager to embrace where their Guild Wars 2 journey takes them next in Heart of Thorns," President and Co-Founder Mike O'Brien said, according to the report.
