Netflix's revival of the WB fan favorite show "Gilmore Girls" will be aired in an unorthodox four-episode format.

New details regarding the hit mother-daughter series have surfaced online, to fans' delight. According to TV Line, "Gilmore Girls" revival will be consisted of four 90-minute episodes, a very unusual TV series format.

Sources claimed that showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino is planning each episode to represent one of the four seasons. Therefore, one episode features winter, another spring, then summer and fall. The remake will revolve around a year in the life of the Gilmores, eight years after the original series ended.

Sherman-Palladino and her executive producer husband Dan Palladino are both penning and directing the "Gilmore Girls" revival. The two are also in negotiations to bring back the original cast including Lauren Graham (The Pacifier), Alexis Bledel (Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants), Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson, reports ET Online. Fans of the show are hoping to see in the revival the Sookie St. James character played by Melissa McCarthy.

"Gilmore Girls" is a WB comedy-drama series that first aired on Oct. 5, 2000. The story centers on the life of single mother Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) in the fictional Connecticut town Stars Hollow. The main themes of the series are family, education, ambition and social stratification. The show ran for seven seasons before it got cancelled on May 15, 2007.

The critically acclaimed WB series gained various nominations. It won awards from the Emmys, American Film Institute, and Teens Choice.

Notable actors who appeared in the television show include Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural"), Milio Ventimiglia ("The Whispers") and comedian Melissa McCarthy ("Bridesmaids"). Both Padalecki and Ventimigia played Rory's love interests and McCarthy played Lorelai's best friend, Sookie.

WB and Netflix representatives are yet to release official statements regarding "Gilmore Girls" revival.
