Aalborg University professor Gert Frolund Pedersen had his name first known as the person behind the "iPhone 4" 'Antennagate' scandal. Ever since then, he has been testing phones with focus on the performance of the antenna. And for his latest specimen, the "iPhone 6S" was put to the test and the results aren't very flattering.

Pedersen put the iPhone 6S against multiple other phones including the "Galaxy S6," "Xperia Z5 Compact," and even the "iPhone 6." The test that was conducted aimed to measure the antenna performance in the GSM 900 frequency band in dBm, the band used in calling. The test was conducted in a radiowave proof environment and the result suggest that out of about 40 phones that were tested, the "iPhone 6S" at the 30th. The "Samsung Galaxy S6" gave out an impressive result that placed itself at the fourth place. The "Xperia Z5 Compact" on the other hand placed 10th.

The results have shown that the "Galaxy S6" is three times better than the "iPhone 6" when it comes to reception strength.

According to Pedersen, the problem with phone receptions is the antenna size inside the device. Phone developers put so much focus on the size of the display and on the capacity of the battery, leaving little space for a big and efficient antenna.

Here is the full list of the phones' ranking.

As for the list's top ten, three Samsung phones are in there (S5, S6, Galaxy III Mini), 3 Sony phones are in there as well (Xperia Z, Xperia Go, Xperia Z5 Compact), and two Nokia phones are also in there (Lumia 620 and Asha 300). However, it seems that phone companies don't really pay attention to their phones' reception as these companies are not really very consistent. Despite Samsung and Nokia's presence in the top ten, they can also be found at the bottom with some of their other devices. It turns out the only Sony is consistently great when it comes to phone reception, at least in this specific testing.
