After the shocking death of Nora (Mia Maestro) in the Season 2 finale of "The Strain," Season 3 promises Eph (Corey Stroll) coming back for revenge.
In the Season 2 finale, Eph and Nora can be seen fighting for their survival to ensure Zack's (Max Charles) well-being as they planned to escape New York. However, with the threats from the stigoi, they planned to go to Washington to acquire sufficient weapons. Unfortunately, their plan led to a conflict between Kelly (Natalie Brown), which ultimately resulted in Nora's death.
Fans of the book were reportedly shocked about Nora's fate as they expected her to survive up until the end, just like in the book. Venture Capital Post reports that in an interview, series creator Carlton Cuse revealed that Nora's death was necessary for the story of Season 3. According to Cuse, killing off the character was a very hard decision for them, but they needed to show the audience that in the story, no one is safe.
Design & Trend reported that Nora's death will lead Eph to the place he needs to be. It is expected that this will be a turning point for him as series writer Chuck Hogan revealed that Eph's character has been lacking the needed energy in the previous season. They reportedly needed Eph to have that certain motivation for the show's narrative, which is why they decided to end Nora's life in a tragic way.
Hogan revealed in an interview that the events that happened in the Season 2 finale will push Eph further, and he will be looking for vengeance. Hogan revealed that in Season 3, Eph will be driven by his anger over what happened, and he will be more motivated to improve on bio-weaponry, which will ultimately drive away the evil forces once and for all.
"The Strain" Season 2 is expected to air on FX sometime next year.
