It has been reported all over the news that Manny Pacquiao will retire next year in order to focus on his political career especially that he is aiming for a senatorial seat in the upcoming Philippine election. The boxing legend plans to end his boxing career come April next year with a big fight. However, there is still no final decision on who will be his next and final opponent as the final bell for his career would soon be heard.

Just weeks after Pacquiao's fight with Mayweather last May, dubbed as the Battle of the Century, names of prominent and uprising boxers were dragged inside the canvass. Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley, Amir Khan and Terence Crawford, were some of the many boxers rumored to fight Pacquiao on his career end fight.

However, just this week, the rumor of Mayweather fighting Pacquiao for the last time was once again rekindled. Despite Bob Arum concluding that the fight will not happen since Mayweather has already retired, still Pacquiao claimed that negotiations for Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Rematch is being processed. On his statement via news, Pacquiao stated that; (Click for Video)

"I don't know yet who's my opponent next but we're still negotiating right now about the rematch with Floyd Mayweather so hoping for that,"

In response to the rumors and speculations for Pacquiao vs Mayweather Rematch, Mayweather Promotions CEO, Leonard Ellerbe, responded to Pacquiao's comments by tweeting: "Floyd Mayweather is RETIRED, end of discussion."

And this was somehow reinforced by another statement which Arum released on espn, and via news he shared that;

"I'm telling you what he told me last week at dinner in New York. We talked very seriously and he said, 'Bob, hopefully, by the middle of May I will have been elected senator in the Philippines and at that point I cannot engage in boxing because I need to focus on the senate and I have to be in attendance'. Manny told me this fight on April 9 will be his last fight."

Like Pacquiao's fate this coming election, his last opponent before his retirement is not clear as well. Guess we would just have to wait for further updates. But meanwhile, with all the rumors around, Mayweather is just taking things slow and enjoying his retirement to the fullest. Maxim just recently reported that Floyd "Money" Mayweather is on a vulgar display of wealth without any thoughts for a rematch. Aside from spending $3.5 million on a 2015 Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, Mayweather went to a stripper club carrying $50,000 to treat 45 of his friends with 30 bottles of champagne, said maxim.
