James Franco is set to direct and star in movie about making the classic cult film, "The Room."
According to theguardian.com, "The Room" was directed by Tommy Wiseau and it is known as "one of the worst movie of all time." Despite of unpleasant reputation of the film, it still has celebrity fans which include Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill.
Franco's new film, "The Disaster Artist", will be named the same as Greg Sestero's non- fiction book in 2013. The books talks about the experience of working with Tommy Wiseau, who, during the making of "The Room", had no experience in film- making as well as producing, directing, writing and starring on the film.
In 2014, James had bought the rights on Sestero's book and he admitted that he's a fan both of the film and the book. "Tommy c'est moi," he said.
James will be possibly joined by his brother, Dave Franco, to play the role of Greg Sestero while he, himself, will play as Wiseau. Seth Rogen will also be part of James' new film as a producer as they have already worked before in the film "The Interview."
In a report by deadline.com, Franco's film, "The Disaster Artist", have Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber to write the script for the film.
"The Room" movie reached its "certified cult status" due to a lot of plot holes and poor production value which led to its landing to midnight show slots across the country. The trailer below can give an idea and glimpse as to why it became one of the worst films of all time.
Together with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg is also part of the film as one of the producers. Seth and James have already worked together before in a film, "The Interview" that shows the assassination of North Korean president which angered the real president. The controversy of the film caused a delay in its showing and it was believed to have caused the controversial hacking on Sony's website.
